A hike in the woods

My nephew Kyle and I took a hike on Thursday.
Up in Ringwood just off of Skyline drive.
This first picture is different, can you tell why?
I'll give you a hint,
I flipped the pic upside down.

Johannes Kepler [1571-1630]
Astronomy/Laws of Planetary Motion
"I had the intention of becoming a theologian...but now I see how God is, by my endeavors, also glorified in astronomy, for 'the heavens declare the glory of God.'"
"I am a Christian...I believe... only and alone in the service of Jesus Christ...In Him is all refuge, all solace."
"Let my name perish if only the name of God the Father is thereby elevated."
"[God] is the kind Creator who brought forth nature out of nothing."

You know, it hit me hard when I realized it.
I will never be 16508 days old again!

Japanese Astronaut’s Space Boomerang Came Back

JOHNSON SPACE CENTER, Texas -- Japanese astronaut Takao Doi has thrown a boomerang in space and found, to the surprise of many, that it does come back.

The 53-year-old conducted an experiment aboard the International Space Station (ISS) on Tuesday, Japanese time, to see whether boomerangs fly back in space. Many had predicted that it wouldn't but, Doi confirmed that after finishing his duties on the eighth day, he threw it and it did come back.

Happy St Patty's day!

God then made man.
The Italian for their beauty.

The French for fine food.

The Swedes for intelligence.

The Jew for religion.

And on and on until he looked at what
he had created and said,
"This is all very fine but no one is having fun.
I guess I'll have to make me an Irishman."

First things first

In 1963, Giants pitcher Gaylord Perry joked, "They'll put a man on the moon before I hit a home run."

On July 20, 1969, just minutes after Apollo 11 made its lunar landing, he hit the first home run of his career.

Monty Pythons Black Knight Star Wars clip

Willi Chevalier

Willi Chevalier
Sigmaringen, Germany
Sigmaringen Beard Club

With his superstyled partial beard which NPR's Robert Siegel once dubbed a "hair pretzel" Willi Chevalier practically owns the partial beard freestyle category. Indeed, Willi has won this category at all WBMC's in memory with the exception of the 2003 WBMC when he was on injured reserve following an unfortunate encounter with a power drill.

"'It is amazing how complete is the delusion that beauty is goodness.' — Tolstoy"

Foggy morning,
Bleakness all around,
can't see past the leafless trees,
can't see whats around the corner,
what does the future hold?
despair or hope?
nothing to do but wait,
and see.

Walt Whitman on what to do.

Click on poem to enlarge.

My connection to the internet keeps going on and off,
Bonnie's computer looses it's connection but not at the same time as my laptop.
In the schematic D-Link is the wireless connection for my laptop.
The surfboard is the cable modem.

There is one thin cable coming out of the d-link?
What is it? Where does it end?
We have no idea!

How Gullible Are We?

A student at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater Idaho Falls Science Fair. He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to alarmists practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our environment. In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical "dihydrogen monoxide."

And for plenty of good reasons, since:

  1. it can cause excessive sweating and vomiting
  2. it is a major component in acid rain
  3. it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
  4. accidental inhalation can kill you
  5. it contributes to erosion
  6. it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
  7. it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients
He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical.

would you sign it?
